Leonard raced to Urumqi to join the frantic search campaign for the lost dog - which seemed less and less likely to succeed as the days dragged on. While waiting to begin to long journey across the world, Gobi was being cared for by a fellow racer at a home in Urumqi, a city in northwest China.
